(Windom, Mn.)– One person was killed and multiple others injured in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday evening on Highway 71 near Windom.
The Minnesota State Patrol says a 2023 Buick Enclave driven by 42-year-old Amy Pigman of Odin and a 2018 Kia Sportage driven by 28-year-old Hunter Schwartz of Albert Lea were involved in the crash. Schwartz died in the crash; Pigman sustained minor injuries but apparently wasn’t taken to a hospital. Three passengers in her vehicle, ages 12, 14 and 13, all from Odin, were taken to the Windom hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Cottonwood and Jackson County Sheriff’s Offices, Windom Police Department, Windom and Lakefield ambulances, Windom Fire Department and the Minnesota D.O.T assisted on the scene.
The collision took place around 6:20 pm. Authorities say the road was snow and ice-covered.
