(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake High School Jazz Band placed third in class 3-A over the weekend at the University of Northern Iowa’s Tall Corn Jazz Festival.
Trumpet players Tanner Baldwin and Michael Davis received soloist recognition awards.
Spirit Lake schools will present their 20th annual grades 5 through 12 band concert Tuesday (Feb. 24th) at 7:30 p.m. at the Sami Bedell Center for the Performing Arts. Admission will be $5 for adults; $4 for students. Activity tickets WILL be honored.
The Okoboji High School Jazz Band finished in fifth place in class 2A at the UNI Tall Corn Jazz Festival. Outstanding soloists were Kelly Hein on vibes, Katelyn Warburton on bass clarinet and Matthew Ohl on trombone.
Okoboji High and Middle School jazz bands will put on their annual Evening of Jazz Friday, March 6th at 7:30 p.m. Admission is by freewill offering.
Okoboji will perform at the Iowa Jazz Championships Tuesday, April 14th.
