SL Woman Escapes Serious Injury In Car Vs Tree Collision

(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake woman escaped serious injury late Thursday afternoon when a vehicle she was driving collided with a tree on the west side of Spirit Lake.

Spirit Lake police say 33-year-old Brianna Gumm of Spirit Lake was eastbound on 18th Street when she missed a sharp curve in the road near the intersection with Highway 9. The vehicle went off the road and collided with a tree.

Gumm was checked over on the scene by paramedics for possible injuries but wasn’t immediately transported to a hospital.

$15,000 in damage was estimated to a 2001 Chevrolet she was driving.

Gumm was cited for texting while driving.

The crash took place shortly before 5:00 p.m.
