SL Trespass Complaint Results In Two Drug Arrests

(Spirit Lake)– What started off as a trespassing complaint at a Spirit Lake apartment resulted in the arrests of two people on drug charges over the weekend.

Spirit Lake police say it started shortly after 9:00 p.m. Sunday when police were called to 707 Lake Street apartment number two for a trespassing complaint. A subsequent investigation ensued and a search of the residence turned up a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana along with drug paraphernalia.

47-year-old Valerie Loerch of Spirit Lake and 45-year-old David Hughes of Spencer were both arrested and transported to the Dickinson county jail.

Hughes was charged with domestic assault, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, trespassing and interference with official acts.

Loerch was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
