SL Traffic Stop Results In Two Arrests

(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop around 6:20 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Highways nine and 71 and County Road M-56 on the east side of Spirit Lake resulted in charges against two people.

Spirit Lake police say upon stopping the vehicle, an officer determined the driver, 23-year-old Alfred Libby Klein the third of Dunnell, Minnesota was allegedly intoxicated. Klein was then placed under arrest.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a green leafy substance alleged to be marijuana.

At that point, a passenger in the vehicle, 23-year-old John Elbert of Fairmont, Minnesota, was also arrested.

Klein was charged with operating while intoxicated…third offense; possession of a controlled substance…marijuana; failure to obey a stop or yield sign; no insurance; turning from an improper lane; and open container.

Elbert was charged with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana.

Both men were booked into the Dickinson county jail.
