(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake teen faces weapon and alcohol charges in connection with an incident this past Friday evening in a church parking lot.
Spirit Lake police say it happened in the parking lot at the Faith Evangelical Free Church where an officer spotted a suspicious male shortly after 10:00 p.m. The man was identified as 18-year-old Tailer Handsaker of Spirit Lake.
Upon investigating officers found Handsaker was concealing a revolver in his waistband without a permit. He was arrested and booked into the Dickinson county jail on a charge of carrying a weapon…an aggravated misdemeanor which will carry an enhanced penalty for being less than 1,000 feet away from school property.
Handsaker was also charged with public intoxication and 3rd offense possession of alcohol under the legal age…both simple misdemeanors.
