(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake School District has a new Superintendent.
The school board Thursday evening approved the hiring of David Smith, Director of the Price Laboratory School at the University of Northern Iowa.
The board offered a three year contract to Smith, who accepted.
Smith’s salary will be $125,000 for the 2009-2010 school year, with benefits.
He begins his Superintendent duties with Spirit Lake July 1st, 2009.
Smith was one of two finalists for the position. The other was Mike Wells, who is currently Superintendent of the Corning, Iowa School District.
