SL School Board Member Enters Alford Plea In Prostitution Case

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake school board member has entered an Alford plea, or no contest, to a charge related to a prostitution case out of Polk county.

Scott Wicks entered the plea recently in Polk County District Court in Des Moines.

Online court documents say Wicks was ordered to pay a civil penalty, was placed on probation for two years and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service.

The case stemmed from an alleged incident earlier this year in Des Moines.

The Spirit Lake school board meets in special session this (Monday 4/18) evening at which time they’ll consider the resignation of a board member. Wicks confirmed to KUOO news he’s stepping down, citing personal reasons.
