SL Residents Express Concern Over Speed Limit On North Hill Avenue

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Some residents living along north Hill Avenue in Spirit Lake say the 35 mph speed limit in that area is too high and want it reduced to 25 mph.

A petition with 46 signatures of people who live in that area that want the speed limit reduced between 8th Street and 140th Street in Orleans was presented at Tuesday’s Spirit Lake city council meeting. They cite concern over the safety of children playing a Gilbert and Isthmus Parks, several commercial businesses in the area, and blind entrances.

The council took no action on the matter as it wasn’t on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting. The matter will be considered by the city’s Public Safety Committee for a possible recommendation to the council at a later date.
