(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake manufacturer is being recognized for its proactive efforts in reducing energy usage.
Alliant Energy recently presented Polaris Industries with a 4,469-dollar custom rebate check for installing energy efficient lighting fixtures and occupancy sensors at its Spirit Lake plant.
Officials say the latest improvements are in addition to ones made back in 2005.
They say the latest improvements will result in a reduction of electrical use of nearly 64-thousand kilowatt hours, the equivalent of emitting 45 metric tons of carbon dioxide that would have been needed to generate that amount of power.
The Spirit Lake Polaris Industries plant manufactures Ranger utility vehicles and Victory Motorcycles. It employs 500 people and operates three production lines.
Alliant Energy’s custom rebate program is available to commercial customers. The utility also offers incentive rebate programs for residential, business, farm and commercial accounts.
