(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake man escaped serious injury last (Tues.) evening when a vehicle he was driving collided with a light pole.

Spirit Lake Police say 38-year-old Kerry Osgerby was eastbound in front of Burger King when he apparently sustained a medical-related condition causing him to lose control. The vehicle left the road and collided with a light pole, knocking it down. The vehicle continued eastbound, coming to rest in the ditch.

Osgerby was treated on the scene by paramedics but wasn’t transported to the hospital.

$3,500 in damage was estimated to a 2002 Dodge Dakota he was driving.

The street light owned by the city of Spirit Lake sustained an estimated $4,000 in damage.

The mishap took place shortly after 6:30 p.m.
