(Spirit Lake)– One of the major fundraisers of the year for the Spirit Lake Fire Department is coming up.
Fire Chief David Kollasch tells KUOO news the department’s annual pancake feed will be held Saturday, April 6th at the fire station…(click here for comment.) “Our best day of the year, I think, for a social gathering for the people to come out and visit with the firemen and see the firemen and also see the firemen that protect their city and their property. We’ll be serving from 9-2, which is a change this year. I want to emphasize that, 9-2 that we will be serving pancakes and sausage.”
Tickets are $5.00 each with pre-schoolers admitted free. Kollasch says proceeds go to purchase and update equipment. This year he says they’re looking at new radios for firefighters…(click here for comment.) “That’s our biggest thing for communication at a fire scene. Like I say right now the radios are our biggest thing. And our pagers, we’re trying to update all those make sure they’re up to date and make sure everything’s working okay.”
Tickets are available for purchase in advance and will also be available at the door…(click here for comment.) “The firemen will be out the first week in April pre-selling and going door-to-door. So be generous and do please purchase a ticket whether you’re coming or not. It goes to a good cause, the fire department.”
The fire station and truck will also be available for tours and on display during the event.
