SL Council Reviews Memorial Park Master Plan

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake city council Tuesday reviewed details of the proposed master plan for the renovation of Memorial Park. The city is budgeting $500,000 for the project. An additional $150,000 for a splash pad at the park is being raised by a local service club.

Brad Beck of Beck Engineering, the city’s engineer on the project, told the council some amenities will have to be scaled back if the project is to remain within the $500,000 budget…Click here for comment from Brad Beck

Councilman Steve Balm suggested the city look at holding off a year or so to purchase and install playground equipment, saying that could come out of the next year’s budget, helping to take off some of the squeeze currently. Councilman Clyde Ihrke agreed, saying that while the majority of the construction will be done this coming year, that some finishing touches may have to wait…

After further discussion, the council directed Beck and the project designer to come back with a newly refined plan.
