(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake city council Tuesday held the second reading of a proposed ordinance regulating outdoor woodburning heating systems. Among other things, the proposed ordinance would ban the devices from residential areas of the city, only allowing them in industrial or commercial zoned areas.

The vote to proceed with the second reading was four-to-one, with Ihrke casting the no vote.
The measure will come back to the council for a third reading and possible adoption at it’s next meeting January 22nd.
