(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision Monday at the intersection of Highways 9 and 71 and Peoria Avenue in Spirit Lake sent one person to the hospital.
The Spirit Lake Police Department says 35-year-old Brenda McGuire of Spencer was eastbound on Highways 9 & 71 when she collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by 65-year-old Janet Dys of Spirit Lake who had stopped for a red light.
A passenger in Dys’ vehicle, 74-year-old Richard Dys of Spirit Lake, was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare where he was treated for minor injuries.
$200 in damage was estimated to a 2000 Chevrolet van driven by McGuire; $500 in damage was estimated to a 2005 Buick driven by Dys.
McGuire was cited for following too closely.
The collision took place shortly after 3:00 p.m.
