(Spirit Lake)– Employees with the city of Spirit Lake will soon be getting a wage increase.
The city council Tuesday unanimously approved a three percent across-the-board cost of living adjustment for city employees.
The council also Tuesday adopted an amended water usage ordinance that allows residents with wells to use them for irrigation purposes as long as they obtain a permit from the city and certain requirements are met.
The council also voted to temporarily halt issuing permits to commercial operators for dumping at the city’s green waste site. Council members want to further research charges for such operators. Those who have already been issued permits will be allowed to continue to dump at the site, which remains open free-of-charge to city residents.
