(Orange City)– An investigation into a house fire over the weekend in Sioux county has landed a man in jail on an arson charge. Firefighters were called to 4911 Ironwood Avenue about four miles south of Orange City and found the house partially engulfed in flames with heavy smoke. Authorities say the residence was unoccupied at the time and no one was injured.
After the fire was extinguished, it was determined the source of the fire was suspicious and an investigation got underway. 52-year-old Greg Aberson of Sioux Center was arrested around 4:43 pm Saturday and was booked into the Sioux county jail on a charge of second degree arson.
Fire departments from Orange City, Alton, Maurice and Sioux Center battled the fire with assistance from the Orange City Ambulance and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
