Single Vehicle Crash Injures Sibley Man

November 22, 2014

(Sibley)– A single-vehicle crash this (Friday) morning in Lyon county sent a Sibley man to the hospital.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Nicholas Larsen of Sibley was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango northbound on a county road near George when he fell asleep at the wheel. Authorities say Larsen woke up as the vehicle started to enter the west ditch. Deputies say Larsen then over-corrected, causing him to lose control. The vehicle went into the east ditch and struck a culvert.

Larsen was transported to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley for treatment of possible injuries.

Authorities say he was wearing a seatbelt.

The vehicle sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage.

The crash took place shortly after 6:30 a.m.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by George Fire and Rescue and the Lyon County Ambulance.
