Single-Vehicle Crash Injures Sanborn Teen

November 22, 2014

(Primghar)– A Sanborn teen was injured Tuesday when a car she was driving collided with a utility pole in O’Brien county.

The State Patrol says 16-year-Serena Ackerman was driving a 2000 Ford on 330th Street a half mile east of Tanager Avenue when she lost control. The vehicle went into the south ditch, rolled and collided with a utility pole, coming to rest on its wheels.

Ackerman was taken by the Hartley ambulance to the Sheldon hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

The vehicle sustained an estimated seven thousand dollars in damage; damage to the utility pole owned by Northwest Iowa REC was estimated at a thousand dollars.

Ackerman was cited for failure to maintain control.

The crash took place around 8:17 a.m. Tuesday.
