(Lakefield, Mn.)– A single-vehicle crash late Monday morning on Highway 86 south of Lakefield sent one person to the hospital.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says 60-year-old Allan Welp of Lakefield was driving a 2011 Chevrolet pickup northbound on Highway 86 when the vehicle left the road and collided with a mailbox. It then traveled about a half mile across a soybean field before striking the embankment of 710th Street. The vehicle then continued north into a corn field on the north side of 710th Street before coming to a stop.
Welp was transported by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake. There was no immediate word on the extent of his injuries.
Moderate damage was reported to the pickup.
The crash, which is still under investigation, took place shortly before noon Monday.
