(Rock Valley)– A single vehicle crash early Sunday in Sioux county has claimed a life.
Authorities say 21-year-old Kaleb DeBey of Sioux City was driving a 2020 Audi westbound on a county road when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. It went into the ditch, hit a culvert, and became airborne. A passenger, 35-year-old Halee Bliek of Rock Valley, was ejected and became trapped under the vehicle.
DeBey and Bliek were taken to a Rock Valley hospital. DeBey was treated for his injuries; Bliek was pronounced dead.
Authorities say high speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash, which is still under investigation. It happened a little after 12:30 am Sunday.
