Sibley Man Pleads Guilty To Attempted Burglary, Domestic Assault Charges

(Sibley)– A Sibley man has pleaded guilty to charges of attempted burglary in the third degree and domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury.

47-year-old Randal Schott was ordered to pay a 1,250-dollar fine on the attempted burglary charge along with restitution. He was also placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Corrections.

On the domestic assault charge, Schott was ordered to pay a fine of 753-dollars and restitution. He was also sentenced to one year in the Osceola county jail, with all but 90 days suspended. Schott must also successfully complete a domestic assault intervention program and have no contact with the victim.

Court documents say the charges stem from September 2nd of last year when Schott broke into a residence in Sibley and sexually assaulted a woman.
