(Wallingford)– A project to improve the shoreline along the north side of Ingham Lake in Emmet county is about to get underway. Rob Patterson, Wildlife Biologist with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources tells KUOO news the work will be taking place along a quarter mile section where wind and wave action have caused some issues…
“We’ll be placing some natural field stone there to event further erosion and that’s kind of what people will be seeing there throughout this fall and winter. One thing in particular, the road will be temporarily closed at times when our contractor is back there and they’ll just be seeing our contractor placing that field stone along there. It’s just going to fix the damage that’s been caused there over the years.”
Patterson says work will be starting soon in that area…
“It’s scheduled to be completed some time this winter and fall. It’s kind of up to the contractor’s schedule there, but the field stone is all staged and in place and whenever it fits into the contractor’s schedule to get started. It’s likely most of that work will be getting done throughout the winter this year.”
Patterson adds the project will require a number of trees to be removed in order to access certain areas of the damaged shoreline.
