Sheldon Man Arrested After Allegedly Making Threats

(Sheldon) (KIWA)– A Sheldon man has been arrested on a felony “threat of terrorism” charge after an incident on the way to jail from Sheldon.

According to a criminal complaint, 56-year-old Edward Gonshorowski of Sheldon is accused of making threats to an officer’s life and the officer’s children and threatening the judge’s life while he was on the way to jail to be booked for a misdemeanor offense. He was arrested on Monday.

In his statement, the officer says he was responding to a call of someone walking down the sidewalk of Highway 18 who was drunk and disorderly. The officer says he found Gonshorowski in the dumpster area of a former convenience store on the east side of Sheldon, adding he had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, an odor of alcohol, and an open alcoholic beverage in his possession.

Gonshorowski was charged with making terroristic threats, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison. He was also charged with misdemeanor counts of first degree harassment, public intoxication, and consuming alcohol in public. He faces a preliminary hearing on March 9th.
