(Orange City)– An investigation Friday into an incident at a residence north of Orange City resulted in the arrest of a Sheldon man.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the residence a little before 6:30 pm after getting a report of a disturbance. Upon investigating they learned the suspect, 81-year-old Dennis Van Roekel, had allegedly entered the home without permission, confronted the resident, and refused to leave. They add Van Roekel allegedly tried to prevent the resident from calling 911, but they say the victim was eventually able to get to safety and contacted authorities.
Van Roekel was arrested on a charge of burglary and was booked into the Sioux county jail.
