Several NW Iowa Schools Awarded Grants Through Local Food For Schools Program

(Des Moines)– Several northwest Iowa school districts have been awarded grants through the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship to purchase meat, eggs, produce, dairy and other local foods from area farmers in the current school year. The Clay Central-Everly, Rock Valley, Sheldon and Spencer Community School Districts, along with Sheldon Christian School, are among 137 throughout Iowa receiving the $2,000 grants.

More than 110 Iowa farms and food businesses have sold products to schools through the Local Food For Schools program.
