(Des Moines)– Some area school districts have been awarded funding from the Iowa Department of Education to expand and sustain before-and-after school programs at elementary schools.
The Alta-Aurelia, Clay Central-Everly, Emmetsburg, and Sibley-Ocheyedan school districts will receive a share of nearly $6 million in competitive grants awarded to 67 Iowa schools. The funds can be used for staffing, evidence-based interventions in math and/or reading, tutoring and other activities to advance student achievement, transportation, and snacks and meals that meet federal nutrition guidelines.
The grants will be implemented in the 2024-’25 school year.
