(Undated)– Several fire departments in northwest Iowa have been awarded grant funding from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. More than $415,000 in 50 percent cost-share grants were awarded to 131 rural fire departments.
The funding will assist with wildfire suppression, personal protective and communications equipment.
Locally, grants were awarded to fire departments in Ashton, Cherokee, Estherville, Sheldon and Wallingford.
