(Spirit Lake)– A park in Spirit Lake is the recipient of some play equipment being donated by a couple of local service organizations.
A representative of the Spirit Lake Sunrise and Noon Kiwanis Clubs told the city council Tuesday they are donating two pieces of playground equipment to Kiwanis Park located at the corner of 23rd Street and Keokuk Avenue. The stipulation is that city crews will be in charge of the installation.
The council unanimously approved the donation.
On a related note, the council approved a request from a representative of the Noon Kiwanis club to name the shelter house at Kiwanis Park after a long-time resident who passed away in the past year. It will now be known as the Peter B. Narey shelter house. Narey, a long time Spirit Lake attorney, was one of the original founders of the club.
