(Spencer)– A semi rollover early Sunday on Highway 71 just north of Spencer sent a Rembrandt man to the hospital. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says Ronald Peters lost control of a 2017 Peterbilt semi as he was reaching for something on the passenger seat. The rig went off the road and traveled into the median, coming to rest on its side.
Peters was trapped in the cab and had to be removed with the assistance of firefighters. He was then taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital.
The tractor and trailer were totaled in the crash, which took place around 5:00 am.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Spencer Police Department, Fire Departments from Spencer and Fostoria, the Spencer Hospital ambulance and a towing service.
