(Spencer)– Seasons Center for Behavioral Health in Spencer is celebrating Autumn’s Center, the work done there, and the kids they have served with their annual carnival later this week. Stephanie Pohar, Vice President of Marketing & Fund Development at Seasons Center, says it will be going on from 4:00 until 6:00 pm Thursday at Sunset Park in Spencer…
“Come out, enjoy an evening of face painting, inflatables, prizes, games. It’s just going to be a fun night to raise awareness of mental health in general, recovery, and just a time to bring families together for a fun evening.”
Meanwhile, Pohar says Autumn’s Center continues to recover after sustaining significant damage in last year’s flood…
“Autumn’s Center is our facility here in Spencer. Autumn’s Center opened at the end of September nine years ago, so it’s actually been open nine years. This is our eighth annual carnival because we skipped covid year but Autumn’s Center opened in 2016. It’s our facility that’s specifically geared towards kids and families who may be affected by abuse, neglect, grief, maybe some bullying at school or really any other mental health challenges. It’s a great facility. Unfortunately, right now, it’s still closed. We had significant flood damage at Autumn’s Center last year so we’re still working to re-build it. All of those services for those kiddos are still taking place, they’re just in a different office location here in Spencer for the time being.”
Autumn’s Center was named after Autumn Elgersma of Orange City who died after sustaining serious injuries from abuse at a daycare facility.
