Search For Missing Webster County Man Ends Tragically In Palo Alto County

November 22, 2014

(Ayrshire)– The search for a man reported missing from Webster county has ended tragically in Palo Alto county.

Palo Alto County Sheriff Dennis Goeders says his office received a report around 1:00 p.m. Tuesday from the Webster County Sheriff’s Office regarding a missing person. Information from a cellular phone trace showed the last contact with the missing individual came from a cell tower in Palo Alto county.

A search was conducted of an area on the east side of Silver Lake near Ayrshire. Palo Alto County Emergency Management Director Mark Hunefeld noticed vehicle tracks on a minimum maintenance road. He followed them and found a red car stuck in a snowbank with a person inside it.

Deputies then arrived and located the body of 49-year-old Dwayne Joslin of Fort Dodge in the vehicle. The area was then cordoned off.

The body has been taken to Mason City for an autopsy.

Goeders says based on their preliminary investigation, foul play is not expected.

The case remains under investigation by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Palo Alto County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Palo Alto County Emergency Management, Palo Alto County Secondary Roads Department and the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Reserve assisted on the scene.
