November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– There’s still no sign of a man reported missing and presumed drowned in West Lake Okoboji.

The search for 35-year-old Juan Miguel Gonzales of Sioux City was suspended at dusk Monday and is to resume at daybreak today (Tues.).

Gonzales was on a boat with some friends late Sunday afternoon in the Hayward’s Bay area when he went into the water and didn’t re-surface. Authorities were called to the scene around 5:00 p.m.

Divers yesterday concentrated their search on an area about 90 acres in size and in about 40 feet of water. A shoreline search continued as well, along with an aerial search.

The search is being headquartered out of Pikes Point State Park. which remains off-limits to the general public.
