“Scouting For Food” Event Coming Up Saturday In Milford

(Milford)– Milford Boy Scouts will be doing their part this weekend to help out a local food pantry. The annual “Scouting For Food” event will be going on this Saturday. Spokesman Jason Simpson says Boy Scouts will be making the rounds in Milford Saturday morning picking up non-perishable food items…

“Last Saturday the Milford Cub Scouts went around and they put door tags on the doors and it has instructions on it that explain to the people what they’re looking for. This Saturday, April 13th, by 9:00, we ask that the people donating the food have it in a sturdy bag and on their doorstep.”

Simpson says all of the food that’s collected stays local…

“There’s a lot of families in Dickinson county that use the food pantry and they really, rely on our large donation in the spring.”

Some 1,300 food items were collected during last year’s event. The food that’s collected will be delivered to the Upper Des Moines Opportunity Food Pantry in Spirit Lake.
