Sanitary Sewer Televising, Cleaning To Get Underway In Spencer

January 06, 2026

(Spencer)– Some maintenance work will be getting underway today (Tues.) on a portion Spencer’s sanitary sewer system. Public Works Director Mark White…

“They were going to start in February but due to the mild conditions right now they’re getting a head start on that. The project scope of the sanitary sewer evaluation study will televise and clean the sanitary sewer system south of the bridge starting with televising and light cleaning. So they plan if they can get through with the camera and have to do a little cleaning they’ll do that then they’ll come back later and clean the whole system with heavy cleaning. The crews will start around Menards and the state maintenance facility area. There will be minimal disruption to the public, vehicles maybe in the road, or cones set up or manholes that will be open.”

White says the contractor’s goal, if conditions allow, is to clean and inspect 3,500 to 4,500 feet of the sewer system per day.

He adds the operations are part of a comprehensive study into the city’s sanitary sewer and wastewater treatment system following the 2024 flood.
