(Primghar)– A man accused of robbing a bank in Sanborn in January has pleaded not guilty.
40-year-old Del Martinnez Evans of Sanborn is accused of robbing the Sanborn Savings Bank on January 22nd, 2024. He was arrested the same day. In a criminal complaint, a deputy says Evans walked into the Sanborn Savings Bank and approached a bank teller. He is accused of handing the teller a note demanding money. The deputy says the teller was “placed in fear” and handed Evans between $1500 and $10,000 in cash. Evans walked out the front door.
Evans was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree theft, a class C, and a class D felony, respectively. If convicted, he could face up to ten years in prison on the robbery charge and five years on the theft charge.
Evans is scheduled to go on trial April 16th. At last report, he remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
