(Spirit Lake)– Approximately 300 students from 31 schools will converge on the Sami Bedell Center for the Performing Arts Tuesday, April 26th for the annual Middle School Choral Festival.
The event will include a combined 5th and 6th grade mixed chorus and a 7th grade mixed chorus. Students will rehearse throughout the day Tuesday and will present a concert at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Tickets will be be $4 for adults and $2 for students.
The director of the 5th and 6th grade choruses will be Jennifer Wagner, Choral Director of Highland Community Schools in Riverside, Iowa. Director of the 7th grade mixed chorus will be Laura Fog, Choral Director at Regis Middle School in Cedar Rapids.
Students from our area that will be participating include those from Armstrong-Ringsted, Emmetsburg, Okoboji, Harris-Lake Park, Sibley-Ocheyedan and Spirit Lake.
The festival is sponsored by the Northwest Iowa Chapter of the Iowa Choral Director’s Association and is being organized locally by Spirit Lake Middle School Vocal Music Instructor Sally Ites.
