Ruptured Gas Line Cited As Cause Of Fire At Spencer Business

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Investigators say a weekend fire at General Traffic Control in south Spencer was the result of a natural gas line on the south side of the building that was broken when a large chunk of snow and ice fell off the roof.

Officials say the gas was ignited when the furnace kicked in. The blaze quickly spread across the roof.

No one was hurt.

Damage was estimated at roughly 300-thousand dollars.
