Rossie Woman Accused Of Stealing More Than $100K Of Jewelry & Cash

(Storm Lake)– A Clay county woman has been arrested in Storm Lake in connection with the alleged theft of jewelry and cash valued at over 100 thousand dollars.

Storm Lake Police were called last Monday to a residence for a belated report of cash and various jewelry items taken from the home. An investigation identified the suspect as 42-year-old Shari Bents of Rossie, who was employed as a caretaker at the victim’s residence. On Thursday, Storm Lake Police served multiple search warrants at properties connected to Bents in Albert City, Peterson, and Rossie. Police allegedly seized multiple items connected to the investigation at the properties.

Bents was charged with 1st Degree Theft, a class C felony…and Ongoing Criminal Conduct, a class B felony. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a 250 thousand dollar bond.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
