Rosenboom Machine & Tool Announces Additional Layoffs

November 22, 2014

(Sheldon)– More layoffs at Rosenboom Machine and Tool.

The company announced late Thursday it’s laying off an additional 171 workers at its plants in Sheldon and Spirit Lake.

It affects 65 temporary and 12 permanent positions in Sheldon and 75 temporary and 19 permanent positions in Spirit Lake.

Rosenboom Machine and Tool announced late last month it was laying off 64 full-time employees at that time–35 at Spirit Lake and 29 at Sheldon.

In announcing the latest round of layoffs, Rosenboom officials site a continued sudden and unforeseen drop in customer orders, as well as current market indicators and forecasts for the upcoming months. They add the newest round of layoffs is part of the cost containment measures the company continues to undertake due to the weak economy.

Rosenboom Machine and Tool makes hydraulic cylinders for agricultural, commercial and service applications.
