(Spirit Lake)– With the advent of Spring comes another season: road construction.
Motorists on a couple of heavily traveled roads in the lakes area will be experiencing delays in the days and months to come. The Iowa Department of Transportation says road maintenance will be taking place on Highway 86 between Highway nine and the Minnesota border and on Highway 9 between Lake Park and the junction with Highway 71 in Spirit Lake and on Highways 9 and 71 between Spirit Lake and the Jackson “Y”, or the east junction with Highway 71.
D.O.T officials say motorists traveling through those areas can expect intermittent lane closures and will be assisted through the work zone with flaggers and a pilot car. Officials say the roads will be returned to normal traffic flow when workers aren’t present.
The work is expected to be ongoing from now until June 15th…weather permitting.
