(Spencer)– Regional Transit Authority RIDES announced today (Mon.) it will provide free transportation to local food pantries across its nine-county service region beginning this Wednesday, November 12th.
Director Hugh Lively says the temporary program is intended to help residents access essential food assistance. He says their goal is to remove transportation barriers so people “can get the help they need without worrying how to get there.”
Residents can schedule a free ride by contacting RIDES at 1-800-358-5037, ext. 1, or 712-262-7920. Normal operating hours will apply but a 24 hour notice isn’t required.
Lively says the free service will continue through at least November 26th.
