(Loon Lake, Mn.)– History will be made later this summer when a ribbon cutting is held on the region’s first interstate recreational trail.
A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony marking completion and connection of the Loon Lake trail in Jackson county, Minnesota with the Iowa Great Lakes trail system will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 17th. It will be held where the two trails join at the Iowa/Minnesota border just north of Mini Wakan State Park, near the north shore of Big Spirit Lake.
A special “Stateline Bike Ride” is being planned for August 1st to commemorate the event. Choose from a five, 20, or 50 mile route. A celebration will follow with music and a lunch.
Advance tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for children ages six to 12. Advance tickets are available until July 24th by contacting the Spirit Lake MainSail office. The price includes a commemorative t-shirt. Proceeds go to benefit trail systems in both states.
The event is being sponsored by the Dickinson County Trail Board and Friends of the Jackson Trails.
