(Emmetsburg)– A ribbon cutting ceremony on the newly remodeled building for the Veterinary Technician program at the Emmetsburg campus of Iowa Lakes Community College will be held this Friday, April 20th. An open house in conjunction with the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce’s regular chamber coffee will begin at 9:30 a.m. Refreshments will be served as students will be available to give tours and provide information about the program and new facilities.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 9:45 a.m. and will feature College President Val Newhouse, Board of Trustees President Janice Lund, Board of Trustees Vice President Pat Kibbie, Veterinary Technician student Abbie Bradley, Instructor Dr. David Rentschler, Instructor Annette Lindquist and Campus Executive Director Dr. Thomas Brotherton.

The remodeled facility design was based on the needs of the industry and on the educational standards needed for graduates. It features specific areas for various types of animals along with facilities for practicing examinations, treatments and procedures such as x-rays. The building also contains classroom and office space.

The Veterinary Technical Building is located next door to the Fire Training Facility at the Emmetsburg campus. Visitors are encouraged to park on Jackman Drive and enter through the building’s front door.
