Ribbon Cutting Held On Lake Park Trail Extension

September 02, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Lake Park)– A ribbon cutting ceremony was held this (Monday) morning in Lake Park officially marking the completion and opening of the Tatanka Ska Trace Trail between that community and Spirit Lake. Erin Reed of Dickinson County Trails thanked everyone who made the project possible, noting that it represents years of planning, fundraising and construction.

Next up, Reed says, is construction of a trail segment connecting Dickinson and Clay counties along with a couple of smaller projects…

As far as Tatanka Ska Trace from Lake Park to the west and from Orleans to the East toward Superior along the same former railroad right-of-way, Reed says some funding pieces are starting to come together…

Reed adds that construction on the first phase east toward Superior could get underway within another few years…

Many of those who attended today’s (Monday’s) ribbon cutting took advantage of the beautiful weather to ride the new trail segment.
