Ribbon Cutting Held On Expansion Of Sustainable Energy Education Center At ILCC

(Estherville)– A ribbon cutting ceremony was held this (Tues.) afternoon on a 6,200 sqaure foot, 550-thousand dollar addition to the Sustainable Energy Education Center at the Estherville campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.

College President Valerie Newhouse says the new addition allows the college to expand the program and serve more students. She also thanked Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative for securing a 350-thousand dollar loan through the Department of Agriculture to help move the project forward.

ILCC Trustees President Jan Lund says the college’s Sustainable Energy Education Program has grown from 15 students in the fall of 2004 to 155 in the fall of this year.

Students will begin using the new classrooms in the spring term which begins January 14th.

Christensen Construction of Estherville was the general contractor on the project, which was designed by the architectural firm Frevert-Ramsey-Kobes.
