Ribbon Cutting Held For Spirit Lake’s New Fareway Store

November 19, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– A ribbon cutting was held late Tuesday afternoon for the new Fareway store at the intersection of Highway 71 and 175th Street in Spirit Lake. Fareway CEO Reynolds Cramer was on hand for the event…

“To get this store open in Spirit Lake, it’s taken a long time to get here. Great people in the community helping us with the city, all of the officials, the chamber, and then how exciting is it that, I’m saying that we’re going to be first now in line because typically you drove up ’71 there was a few other opportunities that go before you got to Fareway. Now we’re first on ’71. That’s going to be awesome for everyone.”

Market Manager Brian Oppendahl says getting the new store ready to open took a lot of hard work by a lot of people…

“There was probably six or seven or eight different locations that sent us help. I mean at one time I think we had 45 different employees in the store helping us out filling shelfs, pulling truck, all the stuff. You’ve got to tag everything, you’ve got to make sure all the planigrams are right. Just a lot of work went into it.”

Corey Vogel, Manager of the Spirit Lake Fareway, says he’s excited to see the reaction of customers as they enter the new store. He says they’re able to expand several of their departments with state-of-the-art amenities…

“We actually have a more shopable floor. There’s more tip-top design, we have 50 more sections on the floor, more variety, bigger beer selection, bigger meat selection, larger produce. I mean you want, we got it. We actually have solar power now as well and a backup generator. That’s probably one of the things I’m excited about the most. Not a lot of people will see. They said it will switch over so fast you won’t even see the lights flicker.”

The new store was open for a VIP event and customers who happened to come through the door. It officially opens to the public at 8:00 am tomorrow (Wednesday).
