(Spirit Lake)-It’s time to get signed up for Get Up & Bowl for Special Olympics. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The 12th Annual Get Up & Bowl for Special Olympics will be held on Sunday, April 30th at Corner Lanes in Spirit Lake.
Committee Member Mike Ross says, the event has grown to include live and virtual teams. “Right now, we have 36 teams slated for the event, so we’re filling those up quickly. We also have virtual teams. A lot of times teams are unable to attend the event and bowl, but they can send a picture in of their virtual team, and they’re well represented on a multitude of websites, facebook and other social media.”
He adds that both silent and virtual auctions will be held this year. “The silent auction is actually at the event. We also, for the last 2 years, have had a virtual auction in addition to the live auction at Corner Lanes to spread the event out further. We’ve had people from 200 miles out bidding on auction items as opposed to just coming to the bowling alley, and that’s been a real benefit to increasing what we’ve been able to do with our totals to sponsor the athletes at their events.”
Auction items may be dropped off at Business Today.
