(Spencer)—The regional manager of the Governor’s STEM, or Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics initiative, will be the keynote speaker at a meeting tomorrow (Wed.) in Spencer.
Kari Webb will address the Lakes Area Employer’s Council, which will meet tomorrow (Wed.) at noon at the Spencer campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. Webb will talk about the STEM initiative and its interface with a skilled workforce, along with future goals and proposed action plans.
The northwest Iowa STEM region is headquartered out of the Estherville campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.
Webb, a former Chemistry teacher at Spirit Lake High School, has also had experience working with academic innovation and technology integration, and has spearheaded pilot programs in project-based learning and competency-based pathways.
The Lakes Area Employer’s Council meeting is open to all employers, human resource personnel, accounting, payroll and other staff members.
Tomorrow’s (Wed.) meeting is expected to last about an hour and-a-half.
