Red Flag Warnings, Fire Weather Watch in Effect

November 22, 2014

Sioux Falls –

Dry, warm and windy weather has fire danger on the rise across the region, prompting the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls to issue Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches for Southeast South Dakota, Northwest Iowa and Southern Minnesota on Saturday.

The weather service warns that warm temperatures combined with strong gusty winds and low humidities will push the grassland fire danger index into the extreme category by Saturday afternoon.
While there are no fire bans in place at this time, burning is not recommended with the potential for dangerous fire conditions across the region.
